The exhibition 'Signs' offers a glimpse into the memories and visions of Renáta Kocmanová

Public Exhibition

Sculptures and objects created by the Sutnar Faculty lecturer are currently on display in Třemošná.

The Václav Brožík Gallery in Třemošná, near Pilsen, is hosting an exhibition entitled Signs, presenting works by Renáta Kocmanová, an artist and lecturer at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art.

The Vice-Dean of the faculty and the curator of the exhibition Andrea Sloupová says: "A sign can be understood as a premonition of future events, as a constellation of the zodiac, as a sign or symbol, as a trace, a stigma, a testimony. For Renáta Kocmanová, who has perceived them intensely throughout her life in various interconnected meanings, signs have become a powerful artistic inspiration. In the artist's reliefs and objects, which are physical imprints of her memories and visions, and in the records of natural processes, she brings two key themes to the gallery: the landscape of her present home and the distant landscape of her childhood. On a broader, more universal level, she explores the theme of martyrdom as a human destiny, which acquires new, topical meanings in the context of contemporary events."

The exhibition will run until 17 May 2024.

Renáta Kocmanová is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, the studio of figurative sculpture and medals of Prof. Jan Hendrych and the Faculty of Education of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen - Teaching of art subjects for secondary schools. From 2008 until now she has been working at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art as an academic assistant. Since 2010 she has been a member of the  Umělecká beseda artistic association.
