This is summer at Sutnarka. The studios are alive with the creative work of ArtCamp summer school.

Hundreds of art enthusiasts from the Czech Republic and abroad have once again headed to the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at UWB. This year, 37 weekly courses are running, from drawing and painting to virtual reality. The public can view the results of the weekly work every Friday.

The nineteenth edition of ArtCamp is in full swing. A creative atmosphere and maximum concentration reign in the Sutnar Faculty building. Participants have five days to complete their projects and present them during the final exhibition. "A week is quite a short time and our participants make the most of this time, whether art is their hobby or they pursue it at a more advanced level. It's interesting to observe how something new emerges under their hands each day and what progress they make," said Lenka Kodýtková, the summer school's executive director. Participants work under the guidance of instructors from the Czech Republic and abroad. This year they have come from Estonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Israel and Italy.

"If I had to characterize this year's ArtCamp with one word, it would be diversity," continued Lenka Kodýtková and added: "This applies to the course offerings, the composition of participants and teachers, as well as the accompanying program." This is largely accessible to the public, allowing them to experience the summer school atmosphere through exhibition openings, meetings with artists as part of ArtCamp Talks, informal drawing evenings, or Friday presentations of weekly work results directly in the faculty building.

The diversity at ArtCamp is also perceived by Vojtěch Teska, a participant in the sculptural portrait modeling course, who is considering studying at Sutnar as one of his options after graduation: "I like the modern environment, openness and diversity of people." While working on facial details from sculptural clay, he added: "I originally wanted to do figure drawing, but it was full, so I chose sculptural portrait. And I don't regret it. It's great to see how it's starting to resemble the model." He won his participation in ArtCamp through the Teendesign competition, which Sutnar organizes for high school students.

The competition, like ArtCamp, is part of the Path to Sutnar Faculty – a series of activities through which the art faculty systematically works with prospective students. Moreover, the summer school's accompanying program offers ArtCamp participants and interested members of the public the opportunity to take a guided tour of the studios every Thursday from 4:15 PM, with explanations about the admission process and the chance to ask about everything that interests prospective students regarding their studies.

The complete accompanying program is available on the summer school's website. Photos, videos and news from ArtCamp activities can be followed on social media @artcamp.pilsen or @sutnarka.
