Two largest UWB summer schools presented to guests from Bavaria

Further Education Guests International

Even though German schools are still in session in July, when both summer schools take place, the summer courses remain an attractive option for them to offer additional training to students and teachers.

Just like a year ago, a group of teachers from several Bavarian secondary schools visited the University of West Bohemia to learn more about its two largest summer schools: International Summer Language School and ArtCamp.

The guests started their visit with a campus tour, followed by a guided tour of the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art led by Lenka Kodýtková, organiser of the ArtCamp summer school. They were impressed not only by the building itself and its facilities but also by the variety of study specialisations and the opportunity to experience this inspiring environment through the summer art courses.

The following presentation introduced both summer schools in detail. Lenka Kodýtková presented the art courses and accompanying activities of the ArtCamp summer school, which brings together participants with different levels of experience and gives them the opportunity to support and develop their talents in many areas of art, get inspiration for further creative work, meet new friends and leave not only with new knowledge and skills, but also with unforgettable memories.

The same qualities characterise also the International Summer Language School, which was presented to the guests by the coordinator of the English section, Vendula Kokošková. She presented a wide range of language learning opportunities, from English and German to Portuguese and Arabic.  The summer language school also prepares an interesting accompanying programme for its participants and its courses are designed for students from the age of six.

It seems that even though German schools are still in session in July, when both summer schools take place, the summer courses remain an attractive option for them to offer additional training to students and teachers. Lenka Kodýtková confirms this on behalf of ArtCamp: 'I am pleased that thanks to the visits of representatives of secondary schools from the border region, we have the opportunity to welcome not only teachers for their professional development, but also this year a group of students who will focus on bookbinding and sculpture.'

Both the International Summer Language School and the ArtCamp will take place this year from 8 to 26 July. The deadline for applications is 19 May for the language courses and 30 May for the art courses.
