The International Summer Language School and the Homo Economicus Summer School are the first to start their courses on 12 July. Moreover, the University prepared the JuniorFEL Summer School of Electrical Engineering and courses focused on cybernetics, informatics, nanomaterials and mechanics.

International Summer Language School

The Institute of Applied Language Studies is finishing preparations before the beginning of the 31st year of the International Summer Language School, which will take place from 12 to 30 July.

This year, participants can choose from courses in English, French, Italian, German, Russian, Spanish, Chinese and Czech for foreigners, both general and professionally oriented, at all language levels. Students will enjoy three-week and one-week courses in English and one-week courses in German, Italian and Spanish. Once again, the organisers will welcome children who can participate in the popular two-week English courses for pupils aged 6-15, and in a one-week French course for children, which will be held for the first time in the history of the International Summer Language School. In the last week of July, the two-week course in English for children will be held at the Nečtiny castle after a two-year break.

Information concerning pandemic measures and the organization of courses will be sent to all registered participants. For health and safety reasons, participants will submit an affidavit at the beginning of each course (or at the beginning of each week for multi-week courses) confirming a negative antigen or PCR test result, or that they have suffered Covid-19 or were vaccinated against Covid-19.

At the moment, there are a few places left! Detailed information can be found on the webpage www.isls.zcu.cz. Contact: Bc. Daniela Kopřivová / dkoprivo@ujp.zcu.cz / 735 713 895

Homo Economicus

The 10th year of the Homo Economicus Summer School will take place at the Faculty of Economics from 12 to 16 July. This year, for the first time, it will take place not only in Pilsen, but also at the Faculty of Economics in Cheb.

Both summer schools will be focused on the topic "Financial Literacy or How Money Circulates"Elementary and high school students will become aware of the time value of money and the digital world of finance. They will get acquainted with the development of finance, from commodity money to virtual currency, and learn how to economically use money in a household, or do business in financial markets. They will also have the opportunity to explore the innovations in the world of finance; they will become familiar with cryptocurrencies and the protection of money against cyber attacks. At the end of the course, participants will possess in-depth knowledge of the world of finance and will be able to avoid mistakes through which they could lose their money.

Participation will be subject to the presentation of one of the following documents: a negative PCR test result (no older than 7 days), a negative antigen test result (no older than 3 days), a vaccination certificate (at least 14 days after the second dose) or a certificate of suffered Covid-19 (in the last 180 days). The organizers will inform the participants of any changes.

JuniorFEL

The 14th year of the summer school JuniorFEL, focused on electrical engineering, will be held from 23 to 27 August. The summer school is intended for 2nd year elementary students, as well as for students of eight- or six-year grammar schools. Participants gain basic knowledge and learn interesting facts in the fields of electrical engineering and electronics in an understandable and playful way, visit laboratories with unique equipment, create their own products and experience university life.

In order to ensure safety for all participants, courses will take place in groups of up to 10 students. Any further restrictions will be governed by the current pandemic situation and the regulations issued by the Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Public Health.

Campo Arduino

The cybernetic workshop Campo Arduino will be held for the ninth time. The workshop is organized annually by the Department of Cybernetics of the Faculty of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the Pilsen Region within the project Support of Vocational Education in the Pilsen Region. The workshop, during which participants get acquainted with simple tasks carried out with a selected robotic kit, is intended for students of the 2nd grade of primary schools and the corresponding years of eight- or six-year grammar schools, as well as high school students.

The workshop will take place not only in the building of the Faculty of Applied Sciences in Pilsen, but also at secondary schools in Domažlice and Klatovy, on the following dates:

Domažlice Grammar School: 12.7. – 16.7. 2021

Secondary Technical School Klatovy 19.7. – 23.7. 2021

Faculty of Applied Sciences: 9.8. – 13.8. 2021
