The ambassador of Japan lectured at the Faculty of Arts

Suzuki Hideo, the ambassador Japan, hosted a lecture titled “ Security Challenges in Indo-Pacific Region” at the UWB organized by the Faculty of Arts and Center of Japanese studies on November 15.

Ambassador Suzuki Hideo came to the University of West Bohemia for the for a several times this year at the invitation of the Center of Japanese studies. During his stay in Pilsen, the ambassador met with the vicedean of the Faculty of Arts Tereza Šlehoferova, Roman Kodet, head of the Center of Japanese Studies and employees and students at the University. After a discussion on future cooperation was followed by a joint lunch, where His Excellency was also accompanied by UWB rector Miroslav Holeček.

Then the guest gave a lecture on Security Challenges in Indo-Pacific Region. The importance of the topic was evidenced by the large participation of students from all faculties of WBU and also by the long discussion that followed. The Japanese ambassador answered a number of questions regarding Japanese and world security policy. His visit and lecture were contributive for good relations between the University of West Bohemia and the Japanese Embassy in the Czech Republic.
