The former head of regional police has been collaborating with the leadership of the University of West Bohemia since December 21 of last year.
Jaroslav Vild, the former director of the Regional Police Directorate of the Pilsen Region, became the security consultant officially working with the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen from January 1. He has been in close contact with the rector Miroslav Lávička since December 21 of last year when the attack on the Faculty of Philosophy at Charles University occurred. This event decided that the security consultant would start working at ZČU from the New Year, although the original plan was for a later start.

"Our intention was to introduce the position of a consultant around the middle of this year, but after the tragedy at the Faculty of Philosophy, there was no reason to wait. I believe that we have approached the right person, supported by his rich professional experience. Thanks to them, he represents the University of West Bohemia in the newly established working group of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, which deals with security at universities," says ZČU Rector Miroslav Lávička.

Jaroslav Vild intends to make the most of his extensive experience with the Czech Police during his work at ZČU. "Currently, I am familiarizing myself with the existing security setup at ZČU in general, and then I will propose any necessary adjustments to the university's current system. I want to emphasize that I am well aware of the specific nature of the university environment and the sensitivity of any changes," he says, adding that, considering the events in December, ZČU is now prioritizing cooperation with the regional police headquarters. "This includes, for example, ensuring security at planned events at ZČU," adds Jaroslav Vild.

Petr Macháček, the director of the Regional Police Directorate of the Pilsen Region, adds: " In connection with addressing security issues, we have been cooperating with various public institutions in the Pilsen Region, including educational facilities, for a long time. Also, due to the tragic event that occurred in December of last year at the Faculty of Philosophy at Charles University, I personally met with the leadership of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen at the beginning of this year with the aim of establishing closer, long-term cooperation in the field of security. We are ready to provide professional training seminars for the teaching staff and other forms of cooperation to ensure the best possible security for students and university personnel. We follow a similar approach with the 1st Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Pilsen."
