An event focusing on the non-medical healthcare sector was held at the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

On Tuesday 30th January representatives of the Faculty of Health Care Studies of the University of West Bohemia Jiří Frei and Stanislava Reichertová, other lecturers, nurses from practice and representatives of the University Hospital in Pilsen took part in an important conference We can't do it without nurses - the biggest problems and searching for solutions. It was hosted by the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in Prague.

The event defined some of the main problems of current practice and education of non-medical practitioners and sought appropriate solutions. In view of the fundamental shortage of general nurses and the risk of further exacerbating it in the near future, the important role and importance of universities, which are fundamentally involved in the education of general nurses and other non-medical practitioners, was highlighted. Some recommendations were made to address the current situation and the direction of the nursing profession.

The importance of the conference was evidenced by the participation of Minister of Health Vladimír Válek and some other MPs, political representatives of the Government, rectors, academics, representatives of the Trade Union of Health and Social Care of the Czech Republic and other personalities from individual health and educational institutions, not only from the nursing field.

We all believe that similar events, which we have the honour to participate in, will bring many positives to the current healthcare system and therefore to our students.
