Cooperation Study Students

The last workshop based on cooperation with the Regional Chamber of Commerce in the Pilsen Region welcomed pupils of the 2nd year of the Masaryk Gymnasium and introduced them to studies at the Faculty of Health Care Studies of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.

On Thursday 21st March the last workshop was held in cooperation with the Regional Chamber of Commerce of the Pilsen Region, supported by the Operational Programme Employment Plus, specifically the project Choosing careers without stereotypes in the Pilsen Region. This time the Faculty of Health Care Studies welcomed pupils of the 2nd year of the Masaryk Grammar School in Pilsen. The aim of the workshop was to introduce them to the studies at the faculty and to the non-medical study programmes.

The Department of paramedic science, medical diagnostics studies and public health with the Department of nursing and midwifery prepared a programm that started in the simulation center, where three students from the Paramedic study program demonstrated first aid training and presented the facilities and equipment of the simulation center. Then the high school students had the opportunity to try cardiopulmonary resuscitation themselves.

The program continued in the nursing classroom, where two General nursing students presented proper hand hygiene with practical hand sanitization training, which the high school students also participated in. Students of the Faculty of Health Care Studies also presented electrocardiography and heart diseases, demonstrated the use of ECG machine and its registration along with explanation of various pathological values. Finally, they were introduced to the mock AED and the use of the oximeter.

Pupils then moved to the anatomy classroom, where they had the opportunity to get a general overview of the Faculty of Health Care Studies, the offered study programmes and the admission procedure. Clearly, the biggest attraction of this specialized classroom was the plastinates and the interactive autopsy table, so the high school students were able to touch the plastinates and test the autopsy table.

After the end of the workshop day we received feedback that the prepared programme was very interesting, pupils liked the practical demonstrations and the opportunity to try everything on their own.

We appreciate the opportunity to participate in this cooperation with the Regional Chamber of Commerce of the Pilsen Region!
