JuniorFEL / August 26th – August 30th, 2024

During the last week of August, five days full of new and exciting experiences will be prepared once again at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The JuniorFEL summer university is designed for students in grades 5 to 9 of primary school or the first stage of secondary school with an interest in electrical engineering.

"During the week, participants will become acquainted in an understandable and playful way with the basic knowledge and interesting facts in the fields of electrical engineering and electronics. They will also visit laboratories with unique equipment, create their own products, and may even take some home. However, perhaps the most interesting aspect will be experiencing what studying at university looks like," says Jaroslav Fiřt from the organizing team.

Participants will learn about electricity, how lightning is formed, how to create and connect electrical circuits, or what powers trams and trolleybuses. They will also try programming a robot and measure their strengths in electricity production. Everyone will also have a ceremonial conclusion – a graduation with the presentation of diplomas, attended by event partners and parents.

JuniorFEL will take place at the end of the summer holidays, from August 26th to August 30th, 2024. Enrollment in the summer university is already open and will continue until August 19th, 2024, or until the capacity is reached. Detailed information is available on the faculty's website.

Summer School FEL Tachov / August 26 - August 30, 2024
Autumn School FEL Klatovy / October, exact dates will be specified

For the fourth time, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEL), in collaboration with secondary schools in the region and with the support of the Plzeň Region, is organizing two sessions of the summer school for students from 5th to 9th grades of primary schools or 1st to 4th grades of multi-year high schools with an interest in electrical engineering, not only within the regional capital.

At the premises of the Secondary Industrial School in Tachov, from August 26 to August 30, participants, under the guidance of FEL teaching staff and a professional lecturer, will familiarize themselves in an understandable and playful manner with basic knowledge and interesting facts in the fields of electrical engineering and electronics - they will learn how smart clothes work, how to build and program Lego kits, or how to manage the production of not only electrical products. They will learn to make an electronic swallow, and on the last day of the week, they will see what it looks like in the laboratories of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of West Bohemia.

A shorter program consisting of selected activities will then take place at the building of the Secondary Industrial School in Klatovy. The date will be specified later.
