Faculty of Economics wins gold for the third time in the Invest Day competition

Competition Students Achievements

The final of the competition of business ideas in České Budějovice brought a golden hat trick for the Faculty of Economics of ZČU.

This year, the Invest Day inter-university competition of business ideas was held again. Its mission is to promote the spark of entrepreneurial and innovative ideas among young students and graduates from the organizing schools, i.e. the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice and the Faculty of Management of the University of Economics in Jindřichův Hradec.

This year's edition started with an internal round for the registered teams from the University of West Bohemia. In it, a total of 9 teams across three faculties faced each other. One team entered for the Faculty of Law, two teams from the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art and a total of five teams from the Faculty of Economics. The presentations themselves were preceded by a series of lectures and workshops led by practitioners. The expert jury selected three projects to take part in the final round on 27 May at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice.

The University of West Bohemia was represented by two ideas from the Faculty of Economics. Matyáš Kopp's idea brought a solution to prolong the life of skateboard shoes, which get destroyed very quickly during training jumps and tricks, using special patches. The third project was the production of soy candles connected with mythological stories by the team from the Faculty of Design and Art of Ladislav Sutnar. Filip Kouba presented the Destinisco project on the development of escape games, in which artificial intelligence is used for modules and puzzles.

The announcement of the results brought joy to Filip Kouba - his escape game with AI elements was chosen by the jury as the winning project. For the third time in a row, the project from the Faculty of Economics took the first place. As part of the prize, Filip also received 20,000 CZK to support the start-up of his idea. Thanks to this money, we can look forward to the opening of the escape room in Pilsen soon. The other competition projects from ZČU took the 6th-11th place.

Every year, Invest Day is a great opportunity for students and graduates of universities to try to develop their idea, which has been lying in their heads. Want to take advantage of it too? Keep an eye on the Center for Entrepreneurship and Sustainability's social media to learn early about the opening of applications for the Class of 2025.
