Does it make sense to maintain even those disciplines that are in low demand? Professor Lužný admits that this is one of the very difficult questions to solve. However, he is convinced that it is important to maintain a certain continuity of education. If we actually agree to close these fields, the continuity of these fields and entire streams of research will be disrupted. It requires a far greater cost, both human and financial, to restart these fields than to keep them going in some encapsulated version, even if it is uneconomical."
