UWB and the University of Toyama have signed an agreement on academic exchange

Guests International Cooperation

On October 26th, the rector of UWB, Miroslav Lávička, welcomed a six-member delegation from the University of Toyama, led by rector Shigeru Saito. Representatives from both universities signed an agreement on academic exchange, supported by the newly established liaison office at the NTC centre.

The University of West Bohemia (UWB) has had several years of cooperation with the University of Toyama, specifically with the NTC research center, in the areas of research and education. As a result, five students from the University of Toyama completed a one-month internship at the New Technologies - Research Centre (NTC) in 2018 and 2022. Both universities are similar in size and focus. The University of Toyama has 9,300 students across nine faculties, offering study programs in areas such as technology, economics, humanities, and arts.

The collaboration between both universities is expected to become even more intensive. Rector Miroslav Lávička from ZCU and Rector Shigeru Saito from the University of Toyama have signed the agreement on academic exchange, covering various areas of education and research. Both parties aim to exchange professors, research capacities, students, as well as administrative and professional staff.

To strengthen international exchanges between the two universities, a liaison office of the University of Toyama will be established at the NTC research center. Its responsibilities will include supporting sent students and employees, as well as maintaining relationships with foreign colleagues upon their return to their home countries.

In addition to the signing ceremony at the rectorate building, the members of the Japanese delegation also visited Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, accompanied by Dean Vojtěch Aubrecht, and the NTC research center, where Ján Minár presented the laboratories focused on advanced materials research.
