Last chance to enroll in the autumn courses for the public at Sutnarka

Further Education Study Public

On September 16th, the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art (FDU) will launch its lifelong learning courses for the public. The offer includes lecture series as well as practical art courses designed for anyone looking to enhance their skills in various artistic techniques.

The autumn lifelong learning courses for the public, where participants can develop their skills in painting, graphic design, photography, figure drawing, interior design, or jewelry making, will open at Sutnarka in mid-September. There isn’t much time left to register, but some spots are still available.

The courses are led by professional artists, designers, and art historians who, in addition to their own practice, also work as university lecturers at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art. One of the benefits that course participants can look forward to is the unique environment of the Sutnarka building, whose studios are professionally equipped for artistic activities. The courses are suitable for the general public as well as prospective students.

How does the Vice-Dean for Academic and Pedagogical Affairs at FDU, Jindřich Lukavský, comments on the public courses in the overall context of study at the faculty? "The autumn lifelong learning courses are intended as a taster. They allow participants to experience the faculty environment and enjoy a selection of offerings from disciplines such as drawing, painting, photography, graphic, interior, and jewelry design, or art history," he explains.

A new addition this year is the lecture series titled Modernism in Context I: From Impressionism to Pre-War Avant-Garde. Participants will delve into the fascinating world of art from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, guided by Andrea Sloupová, head of the Department of Art Theory and History at FDU.

For those interested in photography and who seek a deeper insight into the field, we recommend the unique lecture series Principles of Photography. This course will illuminate the broader context of photography's creation and its societal role, introducing participants to both digital and analog equipment and the technological processes involved in photography. The course is taught by Radovan Kodera, a Pilsen-based photographer, curator, and pedagogue, who has been working in the Photography Studio at the Department of Audiovisual Arts at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art since 2012.

Those interested in enrolling in the courses have until September 8th to do so. Registration is available at this link.
