The Open Studios Weekend invites visitors to the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art

Are you looking for an inspiring weekend activity? Visit the Sutnar Faculty which will open its doors to the public as part of the Open Studios Weekend. On September 28th and 29th, 2024, you will have a unique opportunity to try various creative techniques under the guidance of instructors.

On the last weekend of September, studios of talented artists in Pilsen and the surrounding area will be open to the public, offering a chance to observe their creative process. This traditional event will once again take place at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty in Pilsen. Visitors invited to explore the faculty’s premises and actively participate in a range of workshops. In the Graphics Studio, you can learn about experimental printing and relief printing techniques. If photography interests you, there will be opportunities to create your own photograms and portrait photographs. For the more adventurous, large-scale painting awaits in the Painting Studio. Those interested in modern technologies can try working with a green screen in the Multilab studio. And if you wish to master classical art techniques, instructors will introduce you to the basics of figure drawing from a live model.

The program will also include screenings of animated films created by students from the Animation Studio. Workshops are open to all visitors without prior registration, with spots allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to interactive workshops, you can visit two remarkable exhibitions. The Ladislav Sutnar Gallery (Riegrova 11, Pilsen) is hosting the exhibition Ditta Jiřičková: We Are All..., showcasing the work of the head of the Graphic Design and Digital Media Studio. Her playful abstract compositions draw inspiration from music, literature, and natural phenomena. At the same time, the Second Service project will be presented, a collaboration between students from the Graphic Design and Digital Media and Ceramic Design Studios with the company Český porcelán.

In the Incubator Gallery (located in the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art building), you can admire the Iron Casting exhibition, featuring castings, jewelry, and small sculptures created at the Experiment with Cast Iron symposium in Ústí nad Labem and the Iron Casting symposium in Banská Bystrica.

The Open Studios Weekend will take place on September 28th from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on September 29th from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The Ladislav Sutnar Gallery will be open during extended hours from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM on both days of the event.
