In early 2026, modified leadership will take office at the Czech Rectors Conference, the forum for dialogue and joint decisions of Czech universities. The board will include Miroslav Lávička, rector of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, who will serve as vice-chair for legislation.

After the term of the current chair, Professor Milena Králíčková of Charles University, ends, Professor Milan Pospíšil of the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague will become the new chair of the Czech Rectors Conference (CRC) in February 2026. The CRC plenary decided this at its 183rd meeting held on 4 December in Olomouc. One of the newly elected vice-chairs is also the rector of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The university last had a representative on the CRC board in 2000–2001, when Professor Zdeněk Vostracký served as rector and board member.

“I see this as recognition of the University of West Bohemia’s standing within Czech higher education, and also as an opportunity to contribute even more to shaping the conditions in which universities in the Czech Republic operate and develop. I deeply value the trust my fellow rectors expressed by electing me,” the rector said. His vice-chair portfolio will focus primarily on legislative matters. His term runs until the end of July 2027.

The Czech Rectors Conference, founded on 28 January 1993, brings together the rectors of all public, all state, and selected private universities in the Czech Republic. Its mission is to address key questions of higher education, formulate positions on them, and advocate these positions to legislative and executive bodies and authorities. It also maintains and develops cooperation with similar bodies abroad and with international organisations, especially the European University Association (EUA).
