Supporting the EUPeace Alliance Will Connect the UWB to Other Successful European Universities

EUPeace International Cooperation

This European project represents a major opportunity for further development of the University of West Bohemia's internationalisation efforts.

In early July, the European Commission decided to provide financial support from the ERASMUS+ programme to five Czech universities involved in international university alliances. The University of West Bohemia in Pilsen was one of them. Since 2021, it has been a member of the European University alliance EUPeace – European University for Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Societies.

What does the financial support mean for the UWB?

“For the UWB, we expect a financial subsidy of EUR 851,000. Like other university-wide projects, this initiative will be coordinated by the Project Centre over a period of four years, with a planned start date in January 2024. The alliance coordinator, Philipps-Universität Marburg in Germany, is currently preparing the grant agreement for signing,” said Markéta Ulčová from the UWB Project Centre.

In addition to the UWB and Philipps-Universität Marburg (Germany), the EUPeace alliance also includes the Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen (Germany), Université de Limoges (France), Università della Calabria (Italy), Universidad Pontificia Comillas (Spain), the University of Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina), University of Prishtina (Kosovo) and Çukurova University (Turkey). In the second half of August, their rectors will meet in Limoges, France. Here they will talk about key issues that affect everyone in the new alliance.

This European project represents a major opportunity for further development of the university’s internationalisation efforts and will enable the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen to participate in joint activities with successful European universities.
