Study at UWB in three cities in the west of Bohemia. University invites you to Open Day

Press Release University Education

In the last week of January, the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen will open its doors to all interested in studying. For the first time, UWB will do showings in three cities in western Bohemia - 27th January it will be presented in Cheb, 28th in Pilsen and 29th in Karlovy Vary.

More than 15,800 applications for the current academic year 2024/25 have been received by the University of West Bohemia, and all nine faculties hope to receive a similar number this year. The university offers more than three hundred study programmes at all levels of study - bachelor's, master's and doctoral.

Those who are still unsure of their choice can come to the Open Day of the University of UWB. The Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Education will advise those interested in studying at the Cheb branch as early as 27 January. They can apply for the new programme Management and Digital Technology taught in English in cooperation with the German OTH Amberg-Weiden, or Business Economics and Management and Teaching for the first grade of primary school.

All nine faculties will welcome applicants on Tuesday 28 January in Pilsen - the Faculty of Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Economics at the Bory campus, and the Faculty of Education, Arts, Law and Health Care Studies in the city centre. The Open Day is not only for students of the last - graduating years of secondary schools, but also for lower grades, because it is worth thinking about studying at university much earlier.

Each faculty has prepared its own programme in the form of demonstrations of classrooms and laboratories, as well as lectures where prospective students and their parents can learn everything they need to know about the admission procedure, such as application deadlines or the form of the entrance exam. The programme was also prepared by the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, despite the fact that the Open Day had already been held in autumn and the entrance exams for the first years of the Bachelor's programme had already taken place. However, those interested in further studies can still apply, and the public can also come on the same day for a tour of the building and an exhibition of the students' thesis work. Other units and departments of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen will present, for example, the Institute of Applied Languages or the International Office, where students will learn more about the possibilities of foreign stays and internships.

A new feature this year is the Open Day of UWB in Karlovy Vary, where since last September the Faculty of Education has been teaching the new programme Kinanthropology - Wellness Specialist. Applicants can visit the Jan Palach embankment on Wednesday 29 January to see the facilities and ask questions of the teachers.

In all cities where the Open Day will take place this year, the priority will also be to ensure the maximum possible safety for everyone who attends, including teachers and students. Regional police officers have been informed about the event, and the UWB Security Department is putting its own measures in place.

The University of West Bohemia in Pilsen has almost 12,000 students and 2,400 academic and non-academic staff in the current academic year 2024/2025. It consists of nine faculties and one university institute. It offers 303 study programmes in 62 departments and has over 70 scientific, research and development teams. Last year, the university saw increased interest in studying economics or law. Traditionally, popular study programmes include those in the fields of health and education.

Details of the programme at each faculty can be found at this link.
