The UWB University Library is again participating in the Czech Day Against Cancer. From 14 to 16 May you can buy a yellow flower and donate to cancer prevention and research. This year the collection draws attention to the risks of colorectal cancer.

Thousands of volunteers in yellow T-shirts and millions of marigold flowers across the country – the Czech Day Against Cancer is one of the most famous public fundraisers in the Czech Republic. Every May, it helps fund prevention, research and support for cancer patients. This year, the University Library of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen is again participating in the collection.

"Overweight, obesity, lack of exercise and inappropriate diet are examples of risk factors. In addition to a healthy lifestyle, so-called secondary prevention, i.e. colorectal screening, is also important," explained Michaela Fridrichová, chairwoman of the League Against Cancer.

From Wednesday 14 to Friday 16 May you can buy the traditional yellow flower with a light green ribbon – the symbol of this year's event – at all branches of the University Library (except the library in Cheb). For every donation you will receive not only a flower but also an information leaflet on how to prevent colorectal cancer.

If you can't make it to the library, you can also contribute remotely – simply send a donation SMS in the form:
DMS KVET 30, DMS KVET 60, DMS KVET 90 or DMS KVET 190
(depending on the amount chosen, the League Against Cancer will receive CZK 29, 59, 89 or 189).

The League Against Cancer funds projects that aim to prevent cancer, improve the quality of life of cancer patients, support oncology research and instrumentation of oncology workplaces.
