Sutnar Faculty gained several nominations for the Most Beautiful Czech Books

Alumni Competition Achievements

The expert committee of the prestigious The Most Beautiful Czech Books of the year competition and the jury of the annual Golden Ribbon Award have nominated several publications by professors, students, and graduates from Sutnar Faculty for this year's awards.

The Art comission committee of the Most Beautiful Czech Books of the Year competition nominated several books created by lecturers, students, and graduates from Sutnar Faculty for this year's awards. The competition is organized by the Museum of Literature together with the Ministry of Culture Czech Republic. In the category Bibliophile Books and Artist´s Books, professor Mikoláš Axmann was nominated for his book "Děcko“ (Child). The book was also on display at the prestigious Graphic Art of the Year exhibition held at the Imperial Stables of Prague Castle.  

The book "Nejdelší cesta“ (The Longest Journey) by graduate Dominik Tyl is aspiring for the Arno Sánka Award in the student category. The author, besides his artistic skills, also utilized exceptional knowledge of history and his literary abilities. The book "Ani holka, ani kluk“ (Neither Girl nor Boy) by Marto Kelbl appealed to the jury of the Children and Young Adult Literature category, while " Srdcovka“ (Heartbreaker) by graduate Štěpánka Jislová stood out in the Fiction Literature category.

The award ceremony will take place at the premises of the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Mikulandská Street in Prague on 12 June at 6 p.m.

At the end of April, nominations for the annual Golden Ribbon Award were also announced, with multiple nominations targeting Sutnar Faculty. In the Literary section (Non-fiction Literature for Children and Young Adult Literature category), "Ani holka, ani kluk“ (Neither Girl nor Boy) by Marto Kelbl once again excelled. In the Visual section (Non-fiction Literature category), the publication "Mazal tov!" by student Tereza Piskláková will compete with "Královny a poutníci“ (Queens and Pilgrims) by Didactic Illustration studio head Renáta Fučíková. Marto Kelbl also scores again in the Artistic Achievement of the Year category with the publication "Tam a zpět“ (There and Back). In the Comics category, the originally diploma thesis "Prázdniny“ (Holidays) by Sutnar Faculty graduate Tomáš Staňek was nominated.

The Annual Golden Ribbon Award is annually presented to creators of the best books for children and young adults published in the Czech language. This year, the announcement will be made on 6 June.

Works of the Didactic Illustration studio students were also on display at the prestigious Graphic Art of the Year exhibition, where student Viktorie Sýkorová was nominated for the Graphic Award.
