Cooperation Achievements Exhibition
Illustrated portraits of rulers, politicians, artists, scientists, and athletes – all of these are part of Czech Heroines, an exhibition project launched in 2020 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage in the Czech lands. The creators of the project, which continues to this day, pay tribute to remarkable Czech women whose actions and character have left a lasting mark not only on the history of the Czech Republic. For the year 2025, the exhibition is under the patronage of the First Lady of the Czech Republic, Eva Pavlová.
The project was created in the Didactic Illustration Studio at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (FDU UWB), in collaboration with the Czech Centres. "We deeply appreciate the patronage of the First Lady of the Czech Republic," said Renáta Fučíková, head of the studio, who initiated the exhibition and developed it with her students. "Half of the world's population is still striving for greater recognition of their rights and opportunities. I am grateful that our First Lady includes in her work the support of women who need it. I am also proud that our collection, Czech Heroines, resonates with audiences worldwide and inspires young artists, writers, and, of course, visitors to our exhibition."
This year, Czech Heroines will be presented in Taiwan and Kuwait, among other locations.
In 2020, the project was also published as a book. The written content was developed by author Kateřina Tučková and historian Lenka Křížová, who documented the life stories of selected women. The book, titled Heroines, was published by Universum and received the Golden Ribbon award, which is presented annually to the creators of the best books for children and young adults published in the Czech language.
