Seventeen students of the Management and Digital Technology program at UWB are leaving after their first year of study to join thirteen companies in Karlovy Vary, Cheb, Prague, and other locations. As part of a mandatory six-month internship, they will work in a real-world business environment.

Practical internships are a mandatory part of the program and aim to connect teaching with practice. In the first year of the study program, 17 students are enrolled, who must now complete the first of two six-month practical internships. All students have been matched with partner companies and placed in 13 companies based in Karlovy Vary, Cheb, Ostrov, Nejdek, Pilsen, and Prague.

The evaluation of the first year of the program and the organization of practical internships were the main points of a recent meeting of all participating partners, hosted by the Karlovy Vary Regional Authority. Among other things, the discussion focused on securing accommodation for foreign students and visa issues. Representatives of companies and institutions also addressed topics related to the future development of the study program and its implementation in cooperation with all stakeholders.

One of the companies participating in the program also spoke at the meeting. Erika Nagy, HR manager at AUTODOC, said: "The dual study program is a new development on the Czech market, and we welcome it. We are happy to participate in the expansion of this study program, which is important for our region and allows students to gain practical knowledge in the field and thus better employment opportunities in our region."

Management and Digital Technology is a four-year professional study program that emphasizes the practical side of teaching. It combines the teaching of economics, digital technologies, and languages with practical experience in companies in the Czech-Bavarian region. It is intended for students interested in the connection between technology and management who want to obtain a double degree—from the Faculty of Economics at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and OTH Amberg-Weiden—and work in an international environment during their studies. "We are able to teach the program at the Faculty of Economics thanks to the support of the Regional Chamber of Commerce and the leadership of the Karlovy Vary Region, which contribute financially to it," said program coordinator Dita Hommerová from the Faculty of Economics at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.

"The University of West Bohemia in Pilsen is a long-term partner of the region in the field of higher education. Its study programs, including the new Management and Digital Technology program, bring both high-quality education and new impetus for further development to the region," added Hana Žáková, Councilor for Education, Schooling, Sport, and Physical Education of the Karlovy Vary Region.
