14 sports stations, healthy lifestyle presentation, concerts by university bands, and also the announcement of the best athletes of the university. That's what this year's Sports Day at the University of West Bohemia was like.

Trackathlon, beach volleyball, wheelchair relay, obstacle course, and many other non-traditional and traditional sports were available for those who attended this year's Sports Day at the University of West Bohemia, held at the Athletic Stadium in the city of Pilsen. This sports afternoon with the university was held in this format for the first time this year.

In addition to sports, there was also time for interviews. Ten VIP guests took turns on stage. The Center for Physical Education and Sports of the Faculty of Education invited its students or graduates who have achieved excellent results not only in the name of university but also nationwide competitions in world sports events. Students and staff had the opportunity to meet triathletes Přemysl Švarc and Jan Řehula, athletes Tereza Petržilková, Barbora Tichá, and Tereza Hrochová, sports shooters Helena Klailová and Matěj Rampula, modern pentathletes Michal Michalík and Karolína Křenková, and futsal player Tomáš Vnuk. Among the VIP guests were also Štěpán Říha and coach Tomáš Ceperko from the ZČU Academics hockey team.

The students from the Faculty of Health Care Studies, the Faculty of Education, and the University of the Third Age demonstrated a healthy lifestyle at their booths.

During the sports afternoon, awards were also given for university-wide performances. Throughout the month of April, students and staff of UWB walked, ran, or cycled an incredible 43,350 kilometers. In the competition called "Monthly Endurer," the university annually supports someone in need based on the exact number of kilometers converted into money. This year, the proceeds of 43,350 crowns went to little Lilly, who suffers from Dravet syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy associated with other health problems. The check was received on stage by the rector Miroslav Lávička and vice-rector Jiří Hammerbauer, along with Lilly's mother, who thanked all the athletes: "We really appreciate it, we will use the money for the special therapies Lilly needs several of," she said. Contributions can also be made by those who did not participate in the Monthly Endurer directly to the transparent bank account.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering became the absolute winner of the Monthly Endurer with 10,270 kilometers. For the first time this year, the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering awarded special "marathon" prizes to those who achieved the best performances. In the Walking and Running category, it was Zuzana Šloufová, who works at the rectorate and managed 446 kilometers mostly by walking every day. In the Cycling category, it was Vojtěch Lapuník, a doctoral student at FEL, who cycled 2,313 kilometers throughout April.

The Faculty of Applied Sciences took home the Rector's Cup for their year-long effort and performances from September to April. They participated in all nine scored individual and collective disciplines and won with a staggering lead of 165 points. The Faculty of Economics came in second (109 points), and the Faculty of Education came in third (88 points).

At the end of the day, three university bands played their repertoire - Trhánk, Bonnie, and Broken.45.

Next year's Sports Day with UWB will be held again in May. And this time, UWB Rector Miroslav Lávička decided to declare a rector's holiday for it.
