The 2024 Paris Olympic Games will welcome athletes from around the world, including talented students from the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. Meet our representatives who will compete for medals in various disciplines – from marathon running to shooting.

The host of the 33rd Olympic Games, which start on 25th of July 2024, is Paris this year. This celebration of sport will be welcomed by the city for the third time in its history. The Olympic Games return to the capital of France after a hundred years. In 2024, medals will be awarded in 32 sports and 329 disciplines.

The best athletes in the world are already in Paris, including representatives from the University of West Bohemia, who will represent the Czech Republic in various disciplines. Not sure who to cheer for? Here is a list of our current talented students who will compete in the Olympic Games:

Tereza Hrochová – Faculty of Law (FPR), Athletics, Marathon
Tereza is an endurance runner with domestic titles in the half-marathon, cross country, and mountain running. She met the Olympic standard in her marathon debut and was able to participate in the Tokyo Games. In Paris, she will compete for the best possible placement in the marathon.

Tomáš Němejc – Faculty of Law (FPR), Athletics, 200m
Tomáš, a two-time national champion, will represent the Czech Republic in the 200 meters race. His role model is sprinter Justin Gatlin.

Marie Horáčková – Faculty of Education (FPE), Archery, Recurve Bow
Marie is a multiple national champion in archery and last year's world champion. At the Tokyo Games, she followed in her mother's footsteps, who competed in the same sport at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Marie is getting ready for her next Olympic competition, where she will fight for a medal in the recurve bow category.

Adéla Holubová – Faculty of Health Studies (FZS), Mountain Biking, Cross Country
Adéla lives by the motto "anything is possible." This helped her secure her spot in Paris by winning the Czech Cup race in Bedřichov. She will compete for a medal in mountain biking in the cross-country discipline.

Matěj Rampula – Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAV), Shooting, Rapid Fire Pistol 2x30 Shots and Air Pistol 60 Shots
Matěj is a student at the Faculty of Applied Sciences and trains with the ASO Dukla team. He will focus his shooting skills on the Olympic Games in Paris, competing in the rapid fire pistol and air pistol events.

Jan Louda – Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAV), Badminton, Singles
Honza is the European academic champion and Czech Republic champion in badminton. At just under nineteen years old, he won the national singles championship, triumphed at the Kharkiv International tournament, and significantly contributed to the historic result of the badminton team at the European Team Championships. He trained for the Games with USK Plzeň.

The University of West Bohemia is proud of its students and alumni who have achieved such significant sporting successes and will have the honor of representing the Czech Republic at the Olympic Games. We believe their participation will contribute to the overall success of the Czech Olympic team, and we will enthusiastically watch and support them.
