The more languages you know, the more you are human, says the famous saying. The International Summer Language School will continue to offer interesting courses next year, both traditional and completely new. English for seniors over 60 will be the new one.

The Institute of Applied Language Studies at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen is already intensively preparing for the 35th International Summer Language School, which will take place from 7 to 25 July 2025. In addition to all the established popular language courses for all ages, it will also offer English courses for seniors aged 60 and over.

"In the last two years we have seen a large number of enquiries regarding the offer of summer English courses for seniors," said the main coordinator Daniela Koprivova. "This year we opened English courses in A1, A2 and B1 levels for the students of the University of the Third Age of UWB and after evaluating the whole event, we immediately responded to the increasing interest and decided to offer this course for seniors from the general public."

Week-long English courses for seniors 60+ will consolidate and develop language knowledge and skills. Participants will acquire not only vocabulary on topics related to everyday life, but also grammar at the appropriate language level. "We consider the added value for the participants of these courses to be their feeling of being in a similar age group. This prevents some seniors from not attending the course just because they don't want to be in the classroom with students or employees," added Ms Koprivova.

Detailed information can be found on the International Summer Language School website, through which you can also apply from 1 March 2025. The deadline is 19 May 2025.
