The international ESDGs! project aims to incorporate sustainable development principles and goals

Further Education Study Press Release

The Sustainable Development Goals in Education and in Action! project is led by the UWB Faculty of Economics, along with seven other partners from the Czech Republic, Portugal, Croatia, Finland, Spain, Poland, and Germany.

As of this year, the UWB Faculty of Economics is leading an international project aimed at implementing sustainable development in university courses. The Sustainable Development Goals in Education and in Action! (ESDGs!) project will run until 2024.

Due to the epidemiological situation, the first meeting of the project partners in February was held online. This meeting of partners not only from the Czech Republic, but also from Spain, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Croatia and Finland, kicked off the first phase of the project.

The ESDGs! project is aimed at implementing sustainable development principles and goals into university curricula pertaining to developing new business solutions and business models. This approach to education will also focus on the use of digital trends and modern tools for remote learning. The primary target audience includes students, although due to the use of remote learning (utilizing the MOOC course) the project results will be available for free even to the general public.

A significant part of the project lies in the practical form of outputs, which is why the project will involve the participation of both individuals and organizations from the private, non-profit and public sectors. They will take part in discussions and take on the role of mentors in university courses.

Project partners:

  • Universidade da Madeira (Portugal)
  • Sveuciliste u Zahrabu (Croatia)
  • Faculty of Mining and Geology - Technical University of Ostrava (Czech Rep.)
  • Hameen Ammattikorkeakoulu Oy (Finland)
  • Universidad de Extremadura (Spain)
  • Danmar Computers (Poland)
