Turbomachinery design Workshop at NTC

Seminar Cooperation Science

New Technologies - Research Centre (NTC) welcomed Prof. Andreas Weiss from OTH - Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden. Mr. Weiss conducted a two-day workshop in the field of turbomachinery design with a focus on radial machines at the research institute. The participants were excited!

Professor Weiss works at OTH Amberg-Weiden in the Center of Excellence for Cogeneration Technologies by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Environmental Technology. He focuses on turbomachinery (design), applied fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, and steam and organic Rankine cycle plants (SRC/ORC). He arrived with his young colleague Philipp Streit.

A workshop focused on turbomachinery design, especially radial machines, was planned for the conclusion of the completed joint project entitled "Cross-border network of research and innovation for energy efficiency and combined heat, power and cooling" in 2019. Unfortunately, due to COVID, it had to be postponed and held only at the beginning of March this year.

The seminar was attended by experts from the New Technology Research Center (NTC), the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FST) UWB, the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU), FST students, as well as representatives of Doosan Škoda Power. The workshop was really good, thanks to the creative and practical approach of Professor Weiss, who explained the issues with many examples, demonstrations and practical experiments. The listeners asked many questions, lively discussed the given topic and exchanged experiences.
