Members of the Department of English Language and Literature of the Faculty of Arts represented the university at an anglophone conference in Hradec Králové on March 23-24.

Members of the Department of English Language and Literature of the Faculty of Arts represented the university at an anglophone conference in Hradec Králové. On 23-24 March, anglophone scholars from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Great Britain, Ukraine, Hungary, and other countries gathered at the Faculty of Education in Hradec Králové for the Hradec Králové Anglophone Conference.

The international meeting of linguists, literary scholars and didacticians was attended by Ivona Mišterová, Alice Tihelková, Michelle Duruttya and Iryna Nedainova from the Department of English Language and Literature from the Faculty of Arts, UWB. They presented papers on corpus linguistics, discourse analysis and Shakespearean studies. The conference also included a general assembly of the CZASE (Czech Association for the Study of English), which brings together English scholars across Czech universities. The theme of the underfunding of the humanities and its impact on the situation of English departments in the Czech Republic resonated strongly at this year's conference.
