The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering held a conference on engineering technology, which introduced innovations in the field of machining and additive technology and brought together academia and industry.

From 7 to 9 February, the ninth annual international conference Engineering Technology Pilsen 2024, which is traditionally organized by the Department of Machining Technology of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of WestBohemia in cooperation with industrial partners. Conference was hosted by the Vienna House Easy by Wyndham Pilsen hotel. This important event in the field of mechanical engineering connected academia with industry and this year attracted more than 180 participants from all over the world.

According to the main organiser Miroslav Zetek, the aim of the conference was to strengthen the cooperation between academia and industry and to offer participants new knowledge and inspiration for their future work. "Among them there were also innovations in the field of additive technologies, which I consider to be one of the most important at the moment."

The first day of the conference offered invited lectures by Czech and foreign participants and industry partners who presented the latest trends and innovations in the field of engineering. In parallel, there was a session for PhD students who had the opportunity to present their research results. The programme also included visit of the Plzeňský Prazdroj brewery, a social evening and a tour of the workplaces and research centre of the RTI Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of UWB.

The Engineering Technology Pilsen 2024 conference has long enjoyed great interest and has become an event that regularly attracts experts from different countries and contributes to the development of the field of engineering. "The ninth annual of the conference has once again confirmed its importance as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience between academia and industry," said Miroslav Zetek.
