The Faculty of Law has contributed to the new edition of the Commentary on EU Documents in Ukrainian

The Treaty on the Functioning of the EU, the Treaty on EU, and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU. A commentary on these three fundamental documents governing the European Union is now also available in Ukrainian.
Documents regulating the functioning of the European Union are the cornerstones of the European community, which Ukraine also aspires to join. Commentaries on the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU, the Treaty on EU, and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU have not yet been published in some of their languages, not even by some member states. However, a team of lawyers from the law faculties of Charles University, Masaryk University, Palacký University, and the University of West Bohemia ensured that it was published in Czech on the occasion of the Czech Presidency of the EU in 2022. At that time, the team also came up with the idea to engage experienced translators and publish it in Ukrainian as well. Prime Minister Petr Fiala himself took patronage over this project.

The collective of the Department of Constitutional and European Law under the leadership of the head of the department, Monika Forejtová, took on this challenging task on behalf of the Faculty of Law of the University of West Bohemia.

The scientifically demanding and extensive work was published on the occasion of the two-year anniversary of the Russian aggression in Ukraine by the Wolters Kluwer publishing house. Additionally, it is available online for free to all interested parties in Ukraine. Professor Michal Tomášek, the academic guarantor of the project from the Department of European Law at the Faculty of Law, Charles University, noted during the ceremonial launch of the commentary on Monday, February 26, at Karolinum that the commentary had already been enthusiastically received by the Ukrainian Constitutional Court. Later, the Chairman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, Stanislav Kravchenko, also thanked the team for it.
