International Competition Students
The Faculty of Education of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen was represented by two singers from the Department of Music Education and Culture, who celebrated several successes here.
Eliška Mužová, a student of the Bachelor's program Music with a focus on education, won 2nd place in the III. category of solo singing. "Success in the form of three diplomas that I take home from the competition means a lot to me. Competitions are a form of feedback for us singers on how we are doing and how we will continue our work," said Mužová. The jury did not award first place this time - Mužová's performance was therefore rated as the best. In addition, she was awarded for an extraordinary interpretation of the song Slunečko zachodí by E. Hradecký.
In the higher category, Jana Šístková, a student in the follow-up master's program in Music Education Teaching, shone brightly. The expert jury awarded her 1st place in the fourth category of solo singing. “Winning this competition means a lot to me. I don’t compete as often anymore, so I really appreciate when I succeed after a long break. I used to compete a lot, but I’ve never experienced the kind of atmosphere that was present at this competition. That was also thanks to the group from the Faculty of Education who came to support us. I’d really like to thank them once again for taking time out of their day to come and cheer us on,” Šístková shared.
Together, the two singers also won 1st place in chamber singing (third category).
“Their excellent performances were the result not only of their own talent and effort but also of the support of experienced educators at the Faculty of Education, such as Romana Feiferlíková, and pianist Galina Gvozdevska, who accompanied them during the competition performances,” said Daniela Mandysová from the Faculty of Education at UWB.
Eliška Mužová
Her parents introduced her to music – she sang in a choir and played piano from the age of five. However, she only began studying solo singing in lower secondary school. She has studied under several teachers and is currently working under the guidance of Dr. Romana Feiferlíková at the Department of Music Education and Culture at the Faculty of Education, UWB.
Jana Šístková
She has been singing for more than 15 years. She started at an art school (ZUŠ), where her former singing teacher discovered her talent. She later studied for six years at a conservatory and is now in her fourth year at the Faculty of Education of UWB, currently in her first year of a follow-up master’s program.
Both students began preparing for the competition in mid-January. Together with Romana Feiferlíková and Daniela Mandysová from the Faculty of Education at UWB, they selected suitable pieces and consulted on their preparation.
