First Lady Eva Pavlová takes beer jewelry from the presidential visit, a gift from a UWB student

The earrings and brooch were created as part of the "Šperkařská 12°" (Jewelry 12°) project, a collaboration between Pilsner Urquell brewery and the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, University of West Bohemia.
Beer foam as a fashion accessory? Thanks to Veronika Šimůnková, a student from the Metalworking and Jewelry Studio at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, Eva Pavlová, the First Lady, will bring back unique jewelry from the Pilsen Region. She received them as a gift at the Pilsner Urquell brewery, where President Petr Pavel inaugurated his regional tour on Tuesday, January 23.

"I am thrilled; it is a great honor for me," says Veronika Šimůnková, who hails from Železný Brod in the Jablonec Region, where she studied glassmaking at a secondary school of arts and crafts.

The jewelry was created as part of the "Šperkařská 12°" project, the title of both the collection and the exhibition that "Sutnarka" created for the brewery. The shapes of the jewelry were inspired by glassware, hop leaves, or, in Veronika Šimůnková's case, beer foam bubbles.

"There were twelve of us jewelry designers, and at the request of Pilsner Urquell, we designed jewelry with a beer theme. Three of our designs were selected for production by the brewery based on public voting. At the same time, they informed us that the brewery would be visited by the President in January, and they would like to give Mrs. Pavlová one piece of jewelry as a gift," describes the student. She is pleased that, in addition to the originally intended earrings, the First Lady also received a brooch: "She is known to appreciate such accessories. I believe she will like it."
