The Department of Power System Engineering Remembers Professor František Janouch

Lecture University Science

On Friday, January 12, the distinguished Czech nuclear physicist and supporter of the Czech dissent, Prof. František Janouch, passed away in Stockholm.

The Department of Power System Engineering of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of West Bohemia also remembers the author of popular scientific works and the founder of the Charter 77 Foundation, of which he was also the chairman, as he played a role in the reopening of studies in nuclear disciplines.

"Professor Janouch was a great man with great merits not only in nuclear physics. I had the honor of meeting him personally, and in 2010, when the reopening of studies in nuclear disciplines was being prepared at our faculty and department, I asked him to give a lecture on that occasion. Professor Janouch promised to do so, but unfortunately, when the lecture was scheduled to take place, he fell ill. He therefore asked his friend and our distinguished colleague, Mr. Doc. Hezoučký, to deliver his greeting. And so it happened," says Jan Zdebor for the department. "Since the text of Professor Janouch's lecture has not lost its relevance, we can remember it in this way," adds Jan Zdebor.
