EUPeace Network Prepares February Academic Networking

EUPeace International Cooperation

Representatives of the University of West Bohemia (UWB) in Plzeň regularly attend meetings of the European university network.

From 15 to 17 November, Philipps-Universität Marburg in Germany hosted another meeting of the Governing Board of the EUPeace university network, to which the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň also belongs. Since the summer, when the European Commission decided to fund the nine-member network through the ERASMUS+ programme, representatives have been meeting online or in person every 14 days to develop joint projects to improve the quality and competitiveness of European higher education.

The university in Marburg is coordinating the activities of the entire network, and UWB was represented at the meeting by the Vice-Rector for Strategy and Development, Josef Basl, and Jana Ovsjanniková, the head of the International Office. The next face-to-face meeting will take place in Madrid in April.

"We are currently working on the form of the kick-off meeting to be held virtually in February. However, the initial meeting of our project team will take place at UWB in January," said Ovsjanniková.

"The European University Alliance EUPeace represents an important development area for the University of West Bohemia from this summer onwards until the coming years. Membership in this alliance also provides access to supportive financial resources from the European Commission for participation in already planned work packages. At the beginning of next year, the online EUPeace Academic Networking will take place, marking the start of this project phase," added Vice-Rector Josef Basl.
