Courses The Art of Midwifery and Rebozo for midwives will be led by midwife, professional coach, lecturer and mentor of midwifery practice Anna Kohutová

Ten midwives from practice and ten midwifery students will meet the "midwife", as the renowned expert Anna Kohutová refers to herself, on 27 and 28 March at the Faculty of Health Care Studies of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. It is a great honour for the Faculty of Health Care Sciences to welcome her in its premises and to offer teaching of two of her professional courses.

The Art of Midwifery course will take place on Wednesday 27 March. It will focus on the care of women in labour and the prevention of non-progressive labour. Topics discussed will include pelvic biomechanics and dynamics of labour, the influence of soft tissue on labour, pelvic work in labour, relief positions, press techniques in labour, soft techniques in labour, pelvic and sacrum work, dealing with non-standard situations in labour - breech position, asynclitism, urge disorders, non-progressive labour, positioning in the second stage of labour and protecting the perineum and preventing birth injury.

On Thursday, March 28, the second Rebozo course will follow, named after the traditional Mexican scarf, a gentle tool that can support a woman during menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum and provide holistic support. It has historically been used for centuries by midwives to help pregnant women, support during the birthing process, assist with wrapping the uterus, carrying the baby, and as a ceremony after the end of the sextuplets. Rebozo is the safety and extension of the hands and heart of the midwife and doula in caring for women.  The course will include hands-on practice of the following techniques: supportive rebozo massage in pregnancy, opening massage for birth, an original rebozo rollover sequence to support turning the baby from an awkward position, rebozo technique for closing the pelvis after birth.

We are very pleased that midwife Anna Kohutová will visit the Faculty of Health Care Studies and will pass on her knowledge in the announced topics to midwives.

The educational events are paid for through the Propolis 33 Foundation.
