Kulturka on Sedláčkova Street, a space for students of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (UWB) to meet and relax, has been in operation since 2016 and has been self-service since this academic year. ZČU students and employees have access to it every weekday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. using their JIS card. For later access or to reserve space, please contact the Information and Advisory Center (IPC), which manages Kulturka.
Kulturka consists of two rooms. In the so-called Club Room, students can spend their free time, study, or work on their projects. The second room is equipped with a screen, flipchart, and approximately 25 seats, and can be reserved for workshops, seminars, or student events. The space is popular among student clubs and organizations, such as ARABFEST and ELSOU. In the past, events organized by the IPC, such as Rok jedna (Year One) and themed breakfasts, have also been held here.
The University Library of the University of West Bohemia has entered the new semester with a number of changes. The main novelty is the library boxes, which allow readers to pick up books even outside library opening hours. The boxes are located in front of the Bory Library on campus and in front of the Faculty of Education building on Klatovská Street. Publications can be ordered through the catalog and, after receiving notification that the order is ready, picked up at any time during the day or night.
The library has also made additional spaces available. Two new study rooms equipped with a data projector and flipchart have been created in Bory, and relaxation areas with acoustic chairs have also been added. A new study room is also open in the Philosophy and Law Library in Sady Pětatřicátníků, where the space can be reserved.
The library will also make it easier for new students to start their studies at the University of West Bohemia by offering tours to introduce its services. Anyone else who is interested in what the library has to offer is also welcome to attend. Tours of the University Library are scheduled throughout October, always on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 p.m. In addition to the Bory Library on the university campus, the Pedagogical and Medical Library on Klatovská Street and the Philosophy and Law Library in Pětatřicátníků Park will also be presented. Individual tours of the Economics Library in Cheb can be arranged during the library's opening hours.
Other changes have also affected the university shop on the ground floor of the University Library in Bory, which now extends its Wednesday opening hours until 6 p.m., while on Fridays you can only come here until 11:30 a.m.
Last but not least, you can dispose of plastic and cans in yellow bins located throughout the UWB. The waste disposal company is able to separate waste on the production line, making it possible to recycle cans efficiently.
