Visit of the deputies of Faculty of medicine in Pilsen to NTC: Fostering Collaboration

Cooperation Science

Last week, a meeting took place between representatives of the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen, CUNI and its Biomedical Center with the management of selected research teams from the NTC. The purpose of the meeting was to explore possibilities for collaborative research and international cooperation.

During this significant visit to the NTC research center, Prof. MUDr. Milan Štengl, Ph.D., Vice-Dean for Science, Research, and Grant Activities of the Faculty of Medicine, and Scientific Director of the Biomedical Center, along with Ing. Marie Klečková, Secretary of the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen (FMP), were warmly welcomed. The meeting started with presentations from both research institutions, providing fascinating insights into their functioning and focus areas.

The main goal of the meeting was to seek opportunities for more regular and profound project collaboration between the two institutions and to promote effective integration of medical and materials-technical research. The proximity of both institutions in Pilsen offers unique opportunities for finding synergies in research activities beyond the existing cooperation. One of the ongoing joint research topics is material research for bone implants, utilizing micro CT. Among the potential directions for collaborative research, the meeting discussed applications of biomechanical models of the human body and issues related to contactless temperature measurement using infrared technologies. NTC offered its expertise in quantum materials, sensors, and other advanced materials used in medicine, while FMP provided knowledgeable experimental and clinical medical teams, as well as an experienced project department.

The meeting of representatives from the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen, Charles University, and NTC confirmed the potential for mutual synergy and indicated new possibilities for the development of not only scientific cooperation.
