International Cooperation Students
The Czech-Israeli Summer School, which took place between 18th and 31st July at the Faculty of Health Care Studies, was themed Comparison Analysis between Czech and Israel Health Systems. The summer school brought together Czech students from various non-medical health disciplines with Israeli health management students. The aim of the conference was to familiarize them with healthcare facilities in the Czech Republic, to promote their understanding of different healthcare systems and to enable them to analyze the differences with the Israeli system. FZS participated in the organization in cooperation with the Israeli partner Ariel University.
The program included a professional and cultural part. On 22 July, an international conference Health care without borders - specifics, challenges and development was held, where expert lecturers, including Alena Lochmannová, Liat Kornová and Nachman Ashe, gave presentations. They discussed health systems and education of health professionals in the Czech Republic and Israel. The conference also included presentations by Czech and Israeli students who focused on the FHH courses of study, Israeli field hospitals and student well-being in Israel.
The students visited the Medical Rescue Service of the Pilsen Region, where they got acquainted with the work of paramedics. The next planned excursion was a visit to the Psychiatric Hospital in Dobřany and acquaintance with its operation and structure, as well as a visit to Mulacova Hospital, s.r.o. and Klatovská Hospital, a.s., where the students got to know the environment and care for patients. This was followed by a visit to Konstantinovy Lázně Spa a.s. with a tour of the Prusík Spa House and an introduction to spa treatments. During a visit to Prosthetics Plzeň s.r.o., the students got acquainted with the field of orthopaedic prosthetics. The last stop was the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun, where the excursion was devoted to learning about the rehabilitation centre and the Mental Rehabilitation Centre.
The programme also included an introduction to the Faculty of Health Care Studies and its specialist classrooms and simulation centre, a tour of the university campus, a visit to the TechTower technology park and virtual reality laboratories, as well as a visit to the White Unicorn Pharmacy with a lecture on traditional Czech medicine and pharmacy.
From the cultural part of the program we can mention a tour of the historical center of Pilsen, participation in the traditional Friday dinner at the Pilsen Rabbi's House, a trip to Prague with a visit to the Invisible Exhibition, which offers the opportunity to feel the life of a blind person on their own skin, a visit to the Pilsner Urquell Brewery and a visit to the Techmanie Science Center and their expositions.
"We prepared the Czech-Israeli summer school with our Israeli partners from Ariel University on the basis of long-term research cooperation between our institutions, where we often discuss the differences but also the similarities of our health systems. For this reason, we followed up on the successful Ariel University summer course in Kazakhstan last year, and we conveyed this knowledge and the opportunity to compare the organization of health systems to our students across non-medical health disciplines, as well as to Israeli students studying health management. The very intensive programme brought a number of new impulses not only for further cooperation, but especially for the direction of the students' future careers," says Alena Lochmannová, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Care Studies.
We would like to thank our partners who hosted the participants of the summer school in their facilities, namely Klatovy Hospital, a.s., Léčebné lázně Konstantinovy Lázně a.s., Mulacova nemocnica, s.r.o., Protetice Plzeň s.r.o., Psychiatric Hospital in Dobřany, Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun and the Medical Rescue Service of the Pilsen Region.
