Faculty of Health Care Studies was visited by colleagues from the Catholic University of Croatia

Guests International Cooperation

The Faculty of Health Care Studies of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen discussed the university exchange of students of the General Nursing programme, the exchange of academic staff and cooperation on joint research projects.

On Tuesday, 10 September 2024, the Faculty of Health Care Studies of UWB in Pilsen welcomed colleagues from the partner Catholic University of Croatia in Zagreb. Among the guests was the Dean of the Department of Nursing of the Croatian University, Dr. Ivica Matić, and also the coordinator of foreign practical internships, Dr. Zoran Turza. Both came to the Czech Republic within the Erasmus+ programme. During the visit the guests toured the professional classrooms of the Faculty of Health Care Studies, where they were introduced to the modern equipment of the faculty. In addition, they visited the UWB campus to get an idea of the overall functioning of the university.

The programme also included a visit to the University Hospital in Pilsen, specifically the Oncology and Radiology Clinic and the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Clinic. The Croatian colleagues had the opportunity to get to know the environment and operation of the individual clinics. Moreover, the University Hospital in Pilsen is one of the partners of the Faculty of Health Care Studies, where international students are placed for practical internships.

The Faculty of Health Care Studies has been cooperating with the Croatian university since last year, especially in the field of research. However, the faculty is also interested in student exchange, especially in the General Nursing programme. The Faculty of Health Care Studies is linked to the Catholic University of Croatia by a partnership with the Catholic University of Ružomberok, in which the faculty is considering the preparation of a joint BIP programme (Blended Intensive Programme). It was also discussed to expand the research projects already underway, especially in the field of psychology and patients' emotional perspectives. In the future, the faculty also wants to explore quality of life and nursing care with an emphasis on culturally sensitive care.

Another important topic was the exchange of academic staff, not only within the Erasmus programme, but also in the form of longer-term internships of Croatian academics at the Faculty of Health Care Studies, where they would participate in research together. Czech academics would also have the opportunity to travel to their Croatian partners.
