The University Library of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen invites you to Open Science Week 2026, taking place October 20–22. This year’s event will offer a look at open science from various perspectives, ranging from the institutional and systemic levels, through international experiences, to specific procedures and examples from research practice.
The three-day Open Science Week 2026 program will guide participants through open science, from systemic strategies to everyday research practices. The first day will focus on institutional development, data policies, and research evaluation in the Czech Republic; the second will offer an international perspective on the future of publishing, Diamond Open Access, and research reproducibility. The final day will offer concrete examples of how to work with research data and software. It will address key questions regarding the use of AI in science - from code generation and data processing to transparency and research ethics.
After registering, participants can attend individual days on their own, participate in the entire program, or select specific lectures. The program is open to anyone involved in open science or interested in learning more about this field, including researchers and doctoral students, project support staff and librarians, and other interested individuals from the academic community.
As part of the accompanying program, an interactive Citizen Science workshop on public participation in research will be held in Prague on Monday, October 19. Then, on the evening of Thursday, October 22, “Mistakes Are Always Welcome!” meetings will take place in Prague and Brno. Researchers and students can attend these events without registration to openly share stories about setbacks, failed experiments, and surprising data.
