The University of West Bohemia Library in Pilsen invites visitors on Thursday, March 19, from 5:00 p.m. to a lecture by Pilsen-based painter and traveller Tereza Maříková. She will reveal the forgotten charm of well-known places in Provence, southern France, as well as sites that have been completely forgotten. The travel lecture will complement Maříková’s exhibition of paintings, on display at the UWB Library on the Bory campus from March 2 to April 10.
The artist and traveller promises to take visitors beyond the glamour and film fame to discover the true spirit of Saint-Tropez, to the rocky ridges of national parks, through the streets of medieval villages, and into the raw, unfiltered quarters of Marseille. The experience of picturesque Provence will be topped off with an authentic Provençal cake.
Tereza Maříková (born 1991) is a Pilsen-based painter, passionate traveller, and Francophile who has combined all three of her passions into one: she captures the most beautiful places she has visited in France during more than thirty trips on canvas. She also creates large-scale murals, one of which adorns a study room at the University of Nice. Maříková is planning an exhibition at Le Café de l'Alliance Française de Nice in June 2026. Her murals can also be found in the libraries of the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Arts, and Faculty of Law at UWB in Pilsen.
