The second EUPeace Conference and the first major alliance gathering in Pilsen will take place at Parkhotel Pilsen. The event will offer an interdisciplinary platform for discussing the far-reaching impacts of artificial intelligence on social conflicts, environmental justice, migration, human rights, and global health.

The conference builds on the expertise and contributions of the so-called EUPeace Research Hubs and will focus on how AI shapes today’s global challenges. “We recognise that promoting peace and justice requires a comprehensive research approach – which is why the conference also addresses topics beyond artificial intelligence,” said Magdalena Rousová, Director of the International Office at the University of West Bohemia.

Monday’s programme will open with two keynote lectures on artificial intelligence. Lukáš Benzl, Director of the Czech Association for Artificial Intelligence, will present how AI technologies are used in the Czech Republic within the European context. He will be followed by Miloslav Konopík from the University of West Bohemia, who will discuss the development of AI at the university and how research is connected with teaching.

The programme continues with a plenary session featuring several leading experts. Pavel Ircing (UWB) will speak on Inclusive AI at UWB – how to make artificial intelligence beneficial and accessible to different communities. Political scientist Přemysl Rosůlek (UWB) will address the ethics of political campaigning in the age of AI and outline a proposed code of conduct for the 2025 Czech parliamentary elections.

The programme will also include so-called Creative Spaces – open sessions designed to foster cross-disciplinary dialogue. Discussions will explore key themes related to peace, justice, and inclusive societies. One of the highlights will be the exhibition Beyond the Places of Pain, held in the university library to mark the 30th anniversary of the end of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This audiovisual project revisits the memory of the Bosnian conflict through a combination of art and anthropological research.
