Renáta and Bedřich Kocman move within several mutually interpenetrating layers. Both work as educators at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen – Bedřich as a graphic designer, Renáta as a sculptor. They simultaneously pursue their artistic fields in Zruč-Senec, where they have built their family and creative base and together raise children.

Their personal and professional worlds influence each other without losing individual expression. And it is precisely this multi-layered nature of the relationship, where the everyday life of shared existence meets autonomous artistic creation, that forms the natural starting point and framework for their joint exhibition, referring to the existence of different levels of understanding: not only between work and viewer, but also between two artists whose work is long-term confronted with the presence of the other. These layers do not close into unambiguous categories within the exhibition space, but remain open to interpretation, in tension between authenticity and connection.
