Academic freedom as an invention of white Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries - the condition and limits of dialogue with the culture of others. How is academic freedom changing in the times of #metoo, cancel culture and managerial leadership of universities, and how should it be transformed?

Václav Bělohradský is a Czech philosopher and sociologist living in Italy since 1970 and working in the Czech Republic since 1989. He is one of the postmodern thinkers and the so-called authentic disciples of Jan Patočka.

The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion with speakers from the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of ZČU: Martin Brabec, Václav Bělohradský, Jitka Paitlová and Martin Profant.
